never too old...

...to love forts!

The other day, I was reading Victoria's post about teepees, and just today I got lost in the archives over at Runway Hippie {fun!}, where I was sent to this site. Fifty-seven pages of forts!

I am thinking of building my own from which to blog...  I often see bloggers featuring their organized {read: stylized-for-the-shot} desks in Where I Blog From posts, but I have yet to see one blog from a fort.  That niche needs a fillin' methinks.  

Like many, one of my favorite memories as a kid was building forts in our living room out of blankets, towels, pillows, couch cushions, fresh laundry--Mom was too tickled to see me and my little brother bonding to get upset about us tossing the clean linens fresh from the clothes basket over the dusty fireplace.  But kids aren't the only ones who get enjoyment out of forts!  I can easily picture my{adult}self in any one of these photos...

 

 

And can we please talk about how freaking fun it would be to have a party with your friends in a freaking fort!

The best photos are obviously the stylized ones, but most of the content is webcam-quality, so you get quite a mix on the site. Now, off to scout out the perfect corner...

January is almost over, which means we are getting closer and closer to Spring. 

I can't wait! I seriously miss my sandals and day dresses.

a pie for two

Hello Blogland, how I've missed you so. 

Our bathroom renovation {read: total overhaul} has kept me from you for weeks, and while the mud on the sheetrock is still damp, I have returned temporarily to share with you this delicious find:

 I managed to get a before picture when I popped the pie in the oven...did not manage to get an after...smelled too good to wait.

The pies are made by the Willamette Valley Fruit Company in OR, and they are gooo-ood!  I picked this little cutie up at my local Earth's Fresh Food Market, which carries all local produce and is pretty much like an indoor super-farmer's market, for only $3.99.  The Raspberry-Rhubarb appealed to me most out of the selection, and it did not disappoint.  Seriously considering joining WVFCO's Pie of the Month Club.  Or maybe hubby will read this and decide to sign me up for the best Valentine's Day gift I can think of!  Because really it would be a gift for the both of us, since I suppose I could share a whole pie with him...

Oh, and if you're wondering, these photos were shot with my shiny new fancy camera!  I've shot quite a few pictures during the renovation and am compiling them for a single post once we're finished.  So, you could see this post in two weeks or two months.  I will share one tidbit about the reno and that is I love the new floor tile I picked out so much, I want to make out with it!  So beautiful.  And that's all you get for now.

I got an amazing deal on it and coordinating accessories through Costco, so I am super psyched!  Can you tell??

My nose will be deep in the user manual for the next few weeks {months?!} while I'm learning how to properly use it, but I am so excited to start snapping higher quality shots and sharing them with you!

I'm getting this camera for a business endeavor I am undertaking, but I will also be using it everyday like I did my beloved little Canon Powershot.

My friends and family called me 'paparazzi' before...just you wait!

I am currently LOVING Florence Welch and her band Florence + The Machine!  I've been listening to Drumming Song nonstop for days and it still moves me.
She is such a powerful force.  Talented.  Gorgeous.  And a Virgo!

My next resolution on the list: get legs like hers! ;)  She represents us pale girls well.
